I qualified as a vet from Liverpool University in 1982 and, after starting in Small Animal Practice, I spent some time in a mixed practice in Derbyshire to get the experience I needed for the post graduate qualification in anaesthesia. In 1985, I set up my own Small Animal Practice which has grown organically and through merger and acquisition to 6 branches and 9 vets. In 2014, Hillman Vets joined Independent Vetcare in order to access the investment in our team, equipment and buildings that is needed to move the practice to a new level. In 2015, I re-accredited my anaesthesia qualification and was awarded the Advanced Practitioner status by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. My clinical interests are in orthopaedic surgery, pain control and welfare. Much of my time in the practice is taken up with supporting and training the team and I am passionate about developing newly qualified vets and nurses and those in training. Away from work, I love free-ride snowboarding, playing the piano and walking with my dogs and family.
